Hydraulic cylinders rarely suffer irreversible damage, but occasionally problems such as scratches may occur during use. To reduce maintenance costs, improve efficiency and benefits, it is crucial to identify the causes of hydraulic cylinder oil leakage and for enterprise managers to know how to repair the cylinders. Different hydraulic cylinder scratch repair techniques have their own advantages. Now I will tell you the conventional repair methods for hydraulic cylinder scratches and oil leakage.

Conventional repair methods for hydraulic cylinder scratches and oil leakage

I. Initial cleaning, laying a solid foundation for preparation

The first step in repairing a leaking hydraulic cylinder is to remove the oil. Specifically, the oil stains on the metal surface should be cleaned thoroughly. It is important to note that strong corrosive cleaning agents should not be used, as this will significantly reduce its service life. Generally, it is recommended to use an angle grinder to initially treat the scratched area, and then have a dedicated person grind a groove along the steel cylinder wall, with a dovetail groove being even better, as the basis for the subsequent repair of the hydraulic cylinder.

II. Selection of Composite Materials for Repair

Due to the large variety of composite materials used for repairing hydraulic cylinders, they will not be introduced one by one. If nanopolymer composite materials are chosen, they are generally applied to the entire repair area and then repeatedly pressed by hand according to the prescribed method. However, regardless of the type of repair material selected for the hydraulic cylinder, it is necessary to ensure that the material is filled solidly and reaches the specified thickness, which should be slightly higher than the wall of the cylinder barrel. Otherwise, the repair will be ineffective and the damage is likely to recur after the repair.

III. Solidification and Sealing

Due to the different repair materials selected, there will definitely be differences in the later processing. For example, still taking the repair of the hydraulic cylinder with nano-polymer composite materials as an example, halogen tungsten lamps are used for heating and curing to improve the curing effect and shorten the time. After the repair material is completely cured and reaches the specified hardness, a standard surface is restored by rubbing with a stone and water, and it is ensured that the entire professional hydraulic cylinder is sealed.
