The design process of custom hydraulic systems

What is a custom hydraulic system? In fact, a custom hydraulic system is a device that uses pressurized liquid as the working medium for energy transmission and conversion. It is also called a hydraulic station.

Customized hydraulic systems can be classified into transmission systems and hydraulic control systems based on their operational characteristics, and into open systems and closed systems according to the circulation mode of the fluid. The design of a hydraulic system generally refers to the design of a hydraulic transmission system. This is because there is no essential difference in structure and working principle between hydraulic transmission systems and hydraulic control systems.

The hydraulic system is generally a part of the main machine, so the design of the hydraulic system is closely related to the designer of the main machine. When making a comprehensive comparison and argumentation of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic transmission forms from aspects such as necessity, feasibility and economy, the two are carried out simultaneously. Due to the different functions of various machines and equipment, the focus of design and the design steps are also different.



Now let's take a look at the general design procedure for a customized hydraulic system:

The general design process is:

First, clarify the technical requirements. Technical requirements serve as the basis and starting point for designing a hydraulic system. Before proceeding, it is essential to have a clear understanding of the technical requirements based on the purpose, structural layout, operating environment, working characteristics, and economic performance of the main machine.

Second, system function design: Determine the form parameters, quantity, action sequence, functional requirements, power analysis and motion analysis of hydraulic actuators (cylinders, hydraulic motors) based on technical requirements, and then determine the main parameters of the system. Prepare the working condition diagram of the actuators, and then draw the hydraulic principle diagram.

The selection of standard parts for the hydraulic system (such as motors, oil pumps, and control valves) is based on the oil pump displacement and the heat generated by the system to determine the size of the oil tank. Then, based on the size of the oil pump, the oil tank, and the parameters of the actuator, the oil circuit block is designed. After that, the process is completed.
